The Rise and Fall of WCW DVD ReviewSun, 10 Jan 2010 19:07:00 -0500 - The first thing that went through my mind when this retrospective look at WCW was originally announced was how great a job WWE had done with The Rise & Fall of ECW. If they could put out such a polished and well-researched look back at a small-time promotion that reached heights no-one ever thought it could just imagine what they could do with a promotion going back decades. The sad fact is that The Rise & Fall of WCW falls way way way short of its ECW equivalent... and that\'s a crying shame...
Hulk Hogan: My Life Outside the Ring Book ReviewMon, 04 Jan 2010 16:40:00 -0500 - I very much doubt that I need to explain to you who Hulk Hogan is considering the man is to wrestling what The Beatles are to music. But if you haven\'t been paying attention to his life in the past few years then this book will come as a surprise to you. To summarize Hogan\'s wife Linda left him after an affair became public and merely a fortnight after their son Nick had gotten into a car crash which reduced a family friend to permanent vegetative state. From there Hogan and Linda entered a bitter divorce battle while Nick Hogan was tried for his friend\'s injury as a result of the car crash...
WWE: Rey Mysterio - Behind the Mask Book ReviewSat, 19 Dec 2009 18:04:00 -0500 - In probably one of their most brilliant marketing moves this year the WWE waited until just before Christmas to release \'Behind the Mask\' the autobiography of none other than Rey Mysterio. With so much to cover in his storied career it has to be one of the most anticipated wrestling biographies released for some time...
WWE: Batista - I Walk Alone DVD ReviewWed, 09 Dec 2009 16:52:00 -0500 - May 9th 2002 was the day that Dave Batista made his WWE debut as the bodyguard for D-Von Dudley. His physique got him noticed but there have been hundreds of large muscular men to show up and impress with their physical stature only to disappear into the night having amounted to nothing. Over seven years later it\'s safe to say that The Animal didn\'t fall into that trap...
WWE: Unauthorised History of DX Book ReviewMon, 23 Nov 2009 19:15:00 -0500 - The Unauthorized History of D-Generation X is the first WWE autobiography released in a PG environment despite the subject matter extensively being marred in so much un-PG rated material. DX as you probably know - if youve had any sort of knowledge of the WWE in the past decade or so - are a group that originally formed from remnants of the Kliq a backstage group that consisted of Shawn Michaels Triple H Scott Hall Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash...
WWE: Allied Powers: the World\'s Greatest Tag Teams DVD ReviewSun, 18 Oct 2009 14:24:00 -0400 - This was always going to be a hugely ambitious project and in this case it doesn\'t quite come off. The first issue is with the hosts Miz & Morrison. Now don\'t get me wrong both guys are great talkers and were a fantastic team but that\'s the problem they WERE a fantastic team. Having a collection centred around the greatest tag teams of all time hosted by a team no longer together just doesn\'t seem to sit right...
12 Rounds Movie DVD ReviewSun, 01 Nov 2009 16:38:00 -0500 - A lot of people will have written off 12 Rounds simply on the basis it\'s from WWE Studios. Others unaware of Vince\'s non-wrestling project will simply dismiss it because it stars that wrestler guy. These assertions are unfair as it creates a judgemental attitude before the opening credits have begun running...
Kurt Angle: It\'s True it\'s True Book ReviewSun, 18 Oct 2009 14:03:00 -0400 - And so once again I grace youre computer screens to retrospectively review an old wrestling autobiography that seems to have largely fallen into obscurity with wrestling fans. This pick is Its True Its True by none other than Kurt Angle everyones favourite American hero/braggart. On paper this sounded like a great read - Kurt Angle has certainly had a stellar life...
WWE Judgment Day 2009 DVD ReviewWed, 30 Sep 2009 16:47:00 -0400 - A lot of people are dismissive of the B-level pay-per-views but you usually get at least two or three good bouts and a few decent ones as well. Judgement Day 2009 on paper looks to have one of the better cards for a non-Big Four event. The Chicago crowd also deserve a heap of credit for being up for it pretty much from the first blast of the opening pyro...
The Best of WWE SmackDown: 10th Anniversary DVD ReviewWed, 30 Sep 2009 17:04:00 -0400 - Smackdown the WWE B show reaches double-digits and the company is going all out to celebrate that fact. As I write this the special broadcast of the show is getting set to air this Friday the latest video game to carry the name is due to be in stores in three weeks time and in my hand I have this a three-disc look back at the top 100 moments in the show\'s history...
